The images are far more than conven\u00adtional indus\u00adtrial photo\u00adgraphs or mere documen\u00adta\u00adtion ofp roduction processes. The Wolfsburg series includes both long shots, in which the vastness of the factory halls dominates, and close-ups with a high degree of abstrac\u00adtion. The photo\u00adgraphs of stacks of Beetle fenders from the produc\u00adtion line are now among the most prominent motifs of \u201csubjec\u00adtive photo\u00adgraphy.\u201d Keetman\u2019s use of natural light brings out the beauty of the reper\u00adtoire of forms. For the founding member of the fotoform group, it was a unique and extra\u00ador\u00addi\u00adnary oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to photo\u00adgraph freely in one of the most distinc\u00adtive produc\u00adtion facili\u00adties of those years. He describes the situation as follows: \u201cAt the time, I was friends with a commer\u00adcial artist who told me one day that he was going to VW to see if he could get a job for a VW ad. I asked him if I could go with him, hoping to be able to take some pictures of the produc\u00adtion of the Beetle. The people in charge at the VW factory gave me every support\u2014I was allowed to look around the factory at my own discre\u00adtion. I was also accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by a young man from the factory who was very helpful. I had only a Rolleiflex, a few rolls of film, and a tripod, but no lighting, no flash, and so on.
