All new acqui\u00adsi\u00adtions are indebted to generous collec\u00adtors and artists.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>With its indeter\u00admi\u00adnate form and raw materia\u00adlity, <em>Blob<\/em> by <strong>Phyllida Barlow<\/strong> seems to make its way out of the wall and into the exhibi\u00adtion space as a bubble-like gamete. The power\u00adfully formed sounds of the female performer in <strong>Gary Hill\u2019s<\/strong> video work <em>Remem\u00adbe\u00adring Paral\u00adin\u00adguay<\/em>, which aim at a pre-lingu\u00adistic form of commu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion, are of similar archaic power and impres\u00adsion. <strong>Otto Piene<\/strong> clearly reveals the reciprocal relati\u00adonship of growth and decay with his impres\u00adsive pneumatic ensemble, <em>Fleurs du Mal<\/em> (Flowers of Evil, 1969). The play with natural forces and elements continues in his wall reliefs, which enter into a dialogue with the \u201cwhipped-up\u201d ceramic pictures by <strong>K.&nbsp;O. G\u00f6tz<\/strong>. The technical play with size\u2014\u201cblow-up\u201d is the term used for enlar\u00adge\u00adments in photo\u00adgraphy or zooming in in films\u2014is also mastered by <strong>Jochen Lempert<\/strong>, who bestows his animal portraits with a sense of individuality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his photo\u00adgraphs, <strong>Adam Putnam <\/strong>develops indeter\u00admin\u00adable spatial situa\u00adtions, as well as immediate physical inter\u00adac\u00adtions with space. With the greatest possible emotional distance, <strong>Daniel Boudinet<\/strong> uses a camera to explore the interior of his Parisian apartment at night. <strong>Alain Fleischer<\/strong> continues the game with (maximum) distance and (intimate) closeness in his projec\u00adtions onto the walls of metro\u00adpo\u00adlitan buildings. The large, three-part work <em>Zweisam\u00adkeitsi\u00adma\u00adgi\u00adnie\u00adrung<\/em> (Imagi\u00adna\u00adtion of Together\u00adness) by <strong>J\u00fcrgen Klauke<\/strong> deals with a physical exami\u00adna\u00adtion of the transi\u00adence of the material world. The artist <strong>Stefan Thiel<\/strong> deals with fetish prefe\u00adrences by portraying people wearing nylon stocking masks. The hidden and fragmen\u00adtary is also present in the work of the feminist artist <strong>Wynne Greenwood<\/strong>, who, in her video instal\u00adla\u00adtion, enters into a dialogue with her \u201canxious stomach\u201d and carica\u00adtures bourgeois conven\u00adtions. The Argentine painter <strong>Mariela Scafati<\/strong> experi\u00adences her spatial instal\u00adla\u00adtion of movable, monochrome canvases, which she orches\u00adtrates via rope connec\u00adtions, as an extension of her own&nbsp;body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the question of the self-positio\u00adning of the indivi\u00addual, evolved social struc\u00adtures are also subjected to critical scrutiny. Thus, displa\u00adce\u00adment plays a key role in the exami\u00adna\u00adtion of the history and present of the United States. <strong>Rodney McMillian\u2019s<\/strong> expansive instal\u00adla\u00adtion is a critique of racism and patri\u00adar\u00adchal power struc\u00adtures. In another series of works, she criti\u00adcizes the enthu\u00adsiasm for weapons that is deeply rooted in American society, while <strong>Fred Lonidier<\/strong> documented the arrests of peaceful protes\u00adters against the Vietnam War in 1972 as a grotesque act. <strong>Johannes Wohns\u00adeifer<\/strong> comments bitingly on the legacy of Western colonia\u00adlism with the title of his flag painting: <em>not a flag not even a map<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nathan Carter<\/strong> questions the concept of terri\u00adto\u00adrial borders with his trans\u00adna\u00adtional carto\u00adgraphy in a deliber\u00adately naive aesthetic. <strong>Tejal Shah<\/strong> reveals the failure of border crossings as a result of flight and migration by depicting the lifeless bodies of \u201cboat people.\u201d <strong>Jordan Wolfson\u2019s<\/strong> filmic work <em>I\u2019m sorry but i don\u2019t want to be an Emperor<\/em> also calls for a fight for the values of democracy by repro\u00addu\u00adcing in sign language Charlie Chaplin\u2019s speech from the parody <em>The Great Dictator<\/em>.
