For this reason the first large exhibi\u00adtion to be put on by Director Dr. Ralf Beil named \u201cWolfsburg Unlimited\u201d will address the location of Wolfsburg. The title very deliber\u00adately connects entre\u00adpre\u00adneu\u00adrial and creative energy, the positio\u00adning and the disso\u00adlu\u00adtion of boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more mehr-->\n\n\n\n<p>What is a city? What distin\u00adguishes it? What can it be? Ralf Beil has not only asked himself these questions but also posed them to a circle of selected inter\u00adna\u00adtional artists in order to explore inter\u00adpre\u00adta\u00adtions and metamor\u00adphoses of Wolfsburg. Seven large-scale projects created especially for the exhibi\u00adtion reflect the city in the museum, thus making the \u201ccity as world labora\u00adtory\u201d tangible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time the entire museum will serve as exhibi\u00adtion spaces, from the entrance and foyers to the educa\u00adtional rooms and the Japan Garden. In Julian Rosefeldt\u2019s total instal\u00adla\u00adtion in the 16-meters high exhibi\u00adtion hall a container terminal encoun\u00adters a drive-in movie theater in a scale of 1:1. John Bock has built a material field with film inserts on the architect Hans Scharoun and his Theater Wolfsburg. The photo instal\u00adla\u00adtions by Eva Leitolf and Peter Bialo\u00adbrzeski are juxta\u00adposed with a room ensemble by R\u00e9my Marko\u00adwitsch. A black and white fresco by Didier Rittener as well as a sound window by Nevin Aladag rounds off together with a carousel by Janet Cardiff und George Bures Miller this expansive and multi\u00adfa\u00adceted explo\u00adra\u00adtion of city, work, world and museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWolfsburg Unlimited\u201d is concerned with sounding out this very special city\u2019s stories and histories as well as its (im)possibilities. It will explore the distinc\u00adtive axes of space and time in this corpo\u00adra\u00adtion headquarter with adjacent housing facili\u00adties that was founded in 1938 as the \u201cCity of the KdF [Strength through Joy] Car\u201d\u2014from the garden city of the 1940s, the agglo\u00adme\u00adra\u00adtions and satellite towns of the 1960s and 1970s to the Porsche\u00ads\u00adtra\u00dfe pedestrian zone of the 1970s and 1980s and the event city with Autostadt, outlet stores and ph\u00e6no Science Center since&nbsp;2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wolfsburg repres\u00adents the realities of modernism as well as the present in a very special way. The \u201cCapital of Volks\u00adwagen,\u201d headquar\u00adters of a global corpo\u00adra\u00adtion, is an exemplary site of the latter half of the twentieth century and our own twenty-first century, especially as regards the tension between indus\u00adtria\u00adliz\u00ada\u00adtion, mobiliz\u00ada\u00adtion and digita\u00adliz\u00ada\u00adtion, between mass and indivi\u00addual, between local and global action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to shed light on these thematic fields, the exhibi\u00adtion extends beyond the artist projects to include further, equally central aspects with \u201cReady-mades\u201d from the areas of film, music, archi\u00adtec\u00adture, art and the history of daily life and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A \u201cHall of Fame\u201d spans the history of Wolfsburg from 10,000 B.C. to the present with the stories of striking objects. Thematic gallery spaces explore the \u201cModel City Wolfsburg,\u201d \u201cMuseum King Nordhoff\u201d as well as \u201cVW\u2014The Archeo\u00adlogy of a Myth\u201d and examine the exemplary reality of a city, about which the filmmaker Christian Petzold said in 2003: \u201cIn no city have I encoun\u00adtered the history of the Federal Republic of Germany in such a concen\u00adtrated form on the periphery. If things are going badly for VW, then things are going badly for Germany \u2026 At the same time it is a place of incredible modernity and productivity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWolfsburg Unlimited.
