The Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg has been collecting international contemporary art since 1994. A solid foundation has been laid with key works of late modernism around Minimal Art, Conceptual Art and Arte Povera. More recent positions follow. The aim was and is not to build up a broad art-historical collection, but rather a high-profile one. The focus is on key works, groups of works, phases of work and the exemplary presentation of artistic developments. The result is not a documentation of so-called trends, but a focus on positions and works that are representative of important aspects of contemporary art. The collection currently comprises around 1,000 works or groups of works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection is mostly presented according to thematic aspects in changing exhibitions. This makes it possible to show the works in ever new contexts and to preserve the vitality of the collection. The online catalog also provides a comprehensive overview of works that are not currently on display or are on display elsewhere. Exhibition and detailed views as well as film and video sequences complement the illustrations of the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that some of the works are not suitable for children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
